Description

Considered a settler's paradise when 2 French explorers arrived in the area, the population of Illinois grew by more than 4 million in the second half of the 19th century. This database is a collection of marriage records from the state during that time period. Each record provides the names of both bride and groom along with the marriage date. Also included is the county where the ceremony was performed. This update adds the records of Winnebago and Greene counties to those of Adams, Clark, Coles, DeKalb, Edgar, Fayette, Hancock Bond, Jackson, Johnson, Kendall, McDonough, Menard, Ogle, Randolph, Rock Island, Sangamon, Shelby, St Clair, Vermillion, Warren, and White counties.

Adams County was formed in 1825 and was organized from Pike County and unorganized territory. The records in this database cover the years 1851 through 1900.
