Kansas Towns and Cities, 1912
List of town information with creation dates and name changes through 1912
Description
The prairie state of Kansas is made up of thousands of towns and cities, both large and small. Since the creation of the territory in 1854, most were founded, some changed names, and, for a few, subsequently abandoned. This database is a collection of town information, listing creation dates and name changes through 1912. It was taken from the four volume Cyclopedia of Kansas. This collection lists, for over 1700 towns, the name of the town, its parent township, county in which the town is located, date of creation, and any other names by which the town was known. For the researcher of Kansan ancestry, this can give breadth to understand where ancestors lived.
