Description

The Southern Christian Advocate was the official publication for the Methodist Conferences in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Many marriage notices were included in the publication of this periodical. Similar to the obituary notices of the publication, this database contains only marriage notices between 1867 to 1878. Information from each notice often includes location of marriage, the reverend performing the ceremony, and attending witnesses. Persons wishing copies of a particular notice can contact the South Caroliniana Library, USC, Columbia, SC 29208.
